● About
We are an inclusive child led play project creating play opportunities for children and young people across Merseyside.
We create space for free play for all that strengthens the fundamental areas of child development.
Our environmentally conscious play practices allow us to collaborate with artists, businesses, schools and community groups to improve access to play opportunities and support community wellbeing.
Our Principles
●
Child led
True meaningful play happens when it’s directed by the children not dictated by the adults. Our role is to facilitate it. We create the play environment and let the children do what they do best - play.
●
Make Play Accessible
Every child has the right to free accessible play. Our PLAY DAZE are inclusive and break down barriers that deny groups from accessing this basic right. Play is big and free for all.
●
Take up space
We take up space across the community in areas that are overlooked, unused and unexpected.
●
Social and Environmental responsibility
We emphasize environmental responsibility and sustainability through scrap resources and environmentally conscious play practices. With the goal to improve access to play opportunities Advancing social inclusion, wellbeing and community cohesion through play-based activities and creative engagement
We play differently
No toys?
We promote environmental responsibility and sustainability through the creative reuse of materials, scrap resources and environmentally conscious play practices.
We don’t play with traditional ‘toys’ Our PLAY DAZE use objects and materials called “loose parts” to spark the play journey. Everyday objects and materials that adults may recognise are unknown and limitless for the kids. This allows them to lead their own play, solve problems, and imagine endless possibilities, which fosters creativity , autonomy and critical thinking.
Our loose parts for play are sourced from local businesses. Upholstery sponge become fort walls, a shower curtain used as a canvas. Children are able to combine, redesign and use these objects in limitless ways.
There is potential in the everyday object meaning that play is inclusive, circular, limitless and unique to each child and most importantly sparks the developmental connections for deep meaningful learning.
